MIK (Mounting Is Key) is a click-in rack standard. A carrier plate locks onto your rack, and any MIK accessory snaps onto the plate and releases with a pull. One rack, many accessories, and none of the strap-and-bungee routine.
Which ebikes come with a MIK rack
More every year. As of this writing, every Monarc ships with one. So does the Euphree lineup, and most if not all Velotric models. Some Urtopia models have one, and it is getting common on bike-shop brands too. If your bike is not on that list, look at the rack itself for a MIK carrier plate on top, which is what the accessory clips lock into. No plate? The universal MIK carrier plate adds MIK to most standard racks.
MIK vs MIK HD: what actually changes
In practice, two things: how much weight the rack is rated for, and usually whether it is rated for a child seat. Those are separate from what the bike brand recommends. A bike can have a MIK HD rack and the brand may still not endorse a child seat on it, so check both.
One thing that surprises people: rack capacity does not follow the bike category. A commuter with a MIK HD rack can be rated to carry more on the rack than some cargo bikes. Go by the rack rating, not the shape of the bike.
